The Fashion Follows Function Exhibit Comes to the Moody Mansion, Just in Time for the Holidays

Restored to its turn of the century splendor, the 28,000 square-foot, four-story Moody Mansion was completed in 1895. Today, our guests visit 20 rooms on a tour that depicts the home life of a powerful Texas family. The Moodys established one of the great American financial empires. Based on cotton, it grew to include banking, ranching, insurance, and hotels.

Guests are welcome to tour the two main floors of Moody Mansion, furnished in a variety of styles ranging from French Rococo to Classical Revival, with all furnishings being original to the Moody family.

As of now, you can also see the Fashion Follows Function exhibit in Mary’s Gallery. This particular exhibit is a remarkable exhibit showing photos of Mary Moody Northen at various stages of her life, with the actual clothing she wore in those photos! It also demonstrates how Mary Moody Northen’s wardrobe changed over the years, as she grew from a shy and delicate debutante to a Galveston socialite to a nationally prominent business executive, philanthropist, and adventurer.
